The Beginnings of Patriotism in America

Nathaniel Bacon, the Rebel

Nathaniel Bacon, the Rebel

By Jeannette Holland Austin

Nathaniel Bacon, a wealthy planter from Suffolk, England and kinsman of the famous Sir Francis Bacon, was by marriage related to Governor Berkeley, the colonial governor. Bacon arrived in Virginia during 1674. He was financed by his father and acquired two estates along the James River. The main plantation was located some 40 miles above Jamestown and was described as an average size manor house, with an old and new hall, inner room over
the hall and outer room. r. The chamber of Mrs. Bacon was
included, as well as a kitchen, dairy and storeroom. The
second plantation was located in the vicinity of Richmond,
Virginia.

Because his wife was a cousin of the governor and owing to
his influential social and family background, Bacon was soon appointed to the governor's council
where he readily endorsed a policy to remove all Indians from the region. The plan was to expand the
territory. But, most of all, put an end to the Indian attacks along the frontier settlements. Berkeley was
opposed. He feared a general Indian war such as the massacre of 1622/3 when the Indians set out to kill all white men on the continent. Also, Berkeley was concerned for trade with Native Americans, and desired to avoid the
costs of a major conflict,. Hence, he took no action.

But as settlers continously suffered the atrocities of the raids and murders near the settlements, Bacon
became impatient. Therefore, in 1676 he organized an expedition against the Indians. From the start
the governor branded Bacon a rebel, but was soon forced by public pressure to give Bacon a
commission. Later, Berkeley changed his mind and once again declared Bacon as a rebel and took the
drastic action of sending several military expeditions against Bacon and his 60 odd rebels. This
unfortunate action resulted in the burning of Jamestown! Bacon then managed to seize control of the
government for a time and called an assembly to repeal low tobacco price scales and high taxes.

However, during the height of his power in late 1676, Bacon died of fever, and the rebellion collapsed.
Actually, Nathaniel Bacon dared to reform a bad situation in the colony arising out of a privileged
English aristocracy when he addressed the colonial grievances of the times. The unpopular Governor
Berkeley was recalled to England and another sent to replace him. Bacon was the first rebel reformer
in the colony and has been described as a forerunner of the American Revolution.

Ninevah and Mosul, the Dust of Evil

Excavations of Ninevah
Stone Relief of a Human-Headed Winged Bull, guardian of the palace of king Ashurnasirpal of Assyria
Many great cities have passed away.  In ancient days, the power of the Middle East rotated between great cities such as Nineveh, Babylonia and Egypt.  A simple reading of the Bible notes how battles shifted the powers and subjected the region to burdensome taxes under various kings and rulers.  As time passed, great cities disappeared. A very early record in Genesis 10:11 reads "From that land (Nimrod) went to Assyria and Built Nineveh."  Nineveh was the famous capital of ancient Assyria and was known as a mighty city. It is situated on the east bank of the Tigris River just opposite the modern city of Mosul. Ultimately, Nineveh became one of the most wicked cities on the planet and the excavation of the temple of Sargan II (722-702 B.C.) revealed an astonishingly large structure, with idols placed over every door.  The wall protecting the city was at least three miles long and 1.5 miles wide.
The desolation of Nineveh was prophesized in the bible.  Perhaps in 612 B. C. this was difficult to believe as Nineveh was a thriving capitol in Assyria. The waste was so extensive that scholars did not believe the bible.  Until Sir Austen Layard came along and excavated the site in the 19th century.  The site was dug a number of levels down and is believed to have reached  as far back as the beginning of civilization. The cuneiform records of rulers such as Gudea dates back to 2100 B. C. It was King Sennacherib (704-681 B. C.) built the world's largest aqueduct and a massive wall fifty feet high around the city.  In 1847 Austen Henry Layard excavated the Kuyunjik Mound (Nineveh) and unearthed the magnificent royal residence of king Sennacherib with its 71 rooms and the incredible sculptured walls. He also unearthed the palace and famous library of Ashurbanipal with its 22,000 inscribed clay tablets .

Ironically, it is interesting to note that the city of Mosul located just across the Tigris River from the ancient city of Ninevah once dominated by idol worshippers,  is occupied today by the Islamic State salafi-jihadi militant group and the self-declared Daesh Caliphate. Thus, once again, the ugly head of evil has once again risen his head from the dust of ancient sands to cast its plagues and consume the world with its evil.

The Records of Ancient Civilizations

Babel, no small accomplishment
Since the beginning, mankind has kept records.  In the Bible, we read of the "Book  of Remembrance" kept by Adam.  Then, later referred to in books which later followed.  It appears that the prophet, Enoch, kept records, because there exists an old Ethiopian version "Book of Enoch" labeled since ancient days as apocalyptic. Apparently this ancient book written by Enoch was translated many times because it is full of mystical information and since its discovery, scholars have sought to learn its true interpretation.  Now, let us pass through the era of the flood, and get to the landing of Noah and his family.  It was from this lineage that the Egyptians were founded and archeologists have discovered hieroglyphics dating back to about 6000 B. C.  These glyphs contain detailed information concerning the times and family members of the pharoahs. It is simply a matter of interpretation, which has taken centuries to unravel.

Remember the flood and the Tower of Babel.  Ancient writings reveal that the population was so high-tech that it controlled the weather.  How does that compare to today's fanatics who claim the existence global warming and that the so-called pollution from automobiles actually affects the sky, clouds and ionisphere?

Meanwhile, diggings in the ancient city of Ninevah (Iraq) near today's Mosul reveals a massive temple complex of idol worshippers.  The Middle East consisted of great rulers and civilizations. and has always set the stage for turmoil.   With the destruction of Alexandria in Egypt went the greatest library in the world for its time.

Recent discoveries also reveal that the same sophistocation of civilized society also settled in Palenque and Guatamala.  Those glyphs remained untranslated until the 1970s, when a mathematician by the name of Thompson figured out that the earliest date was about 585 B. C. Afterwards, it still took many years to correctly interpret the glyphs. One reason is that Thompson insisted the was correct.  The Mexican population maintained expert documents, which we have since learned that the Spanish conquistadors destroyed.  Thus, the Spanish wiped out an entire civilization said to be more literate than the Europeans.

Mankind is the keeper of records, of the history of the civilizations of the earth.  Only in recent history did the scholars tell us that man started off in caves and when he discovered his thumb, he could write.  This theory ignores the fact that Adam and Eve were schooled in the Garden of Eden by God himself and after the expulsion, heard his voice, and conversed with him.  So, if we are to believe that man was a dumb brute and it took thousands of years for him to reach a higher form of civilization, how did the pyramids get built?  They told us the pyramids were built with slave labor, and yet the angles and precision cuts of the stones suggest otherwise. They were too dumb to use a wench?  Atlanta housed an exhibit of King Tut.  In that exhibit was a wheel with gears.

The point that I am attempting here is that discoveries change the facts.  And we should expect more of them.  Still, many of the oldest records have gone untranslated.  The genealogist assumes that if a court house burned, then the records were lost.  He goes there.  No records for that particular time frame.  Yet, miraculously books turn up.  Here is one explanation. Clerks in court houses used to take their work (books) home with them.  Later, in an estate sale or somewhere, the books start showing up.  Much has been lost since Adam and Eve.  Just as the researcher attempts to piece together the family puzzle, the former translations and histories written by scholars are also full of errors. However, at the time that their theories were published, they were glorying in the rewards of public acclaim.   Actually, the genealogist cannot go much beyond the Doomsday Book (1066 A. D.),  From 1066 A. D. to 6000 B.C., that is a lot of records lost!  However, there are many genealogies which can be pieced together and fit into the learned history.  Details are important.  All that we need do is seek actual facts from official records and historical references, such as census and county records,

Footnote:  There were cave-dwellers in Egypt and Palestine, but these were religious people who wanted to live a more exemplary life away from the Sanhedrin.

World War III

Where is our flag today?  They spit on it, and stamped it in the ground.  Now, who will fight our battles?
Today is but a reflection of decisions made yesterday.  Let's face it, America, we are in BIG trouble! The democratic party has been hijacked by some of the most ruthless, double-dealing, lying varmints of the age.  They have different names for themselves, socialists, leftists, liberals, and so on, but their agenda is entwined with evil purpose.  I could cite numerous items here which proves that nothing is new under the sun.  In generations past, children were sacrificed to idols.  Today, they are aborted in clinics.  There is more love for animals than children, and some liberals believe in animal  "rights".  There is a prevailing sickness upon the land.  Unfortunately, American elections have fulfilled the wishes of its voters by installing some of the most corrupt, deceitful, greedyand lying creatures of the age.

Wake up to the bombing of Paris!  This wake-up call is somewhat baffling. Where was the outrage on 9/11?  I shall tell you.  We had a president who bombed the enemy in Iraq and other middle-eastern provinces.  We slept peacefully in our beds, aware that something was being done about terrorism.  Then, God help us, another democrat was elected as president of this good country and sent the soldiers home!  Since that time, America has suffered numerous types of terrorism, from beheadings by terrorist groups to local fanatics killing our policemen, and we are told that "no, this is not Islamic terrorism."   I suppose that as long as the Americans beheaded abroad (as well as in this country), were members of our own family, everything is cool.  Yet, Francis Hollande , the president of France, upon his country being bombed, correctly declared war!

Meanwhile, politicians close their eyes and their lips utter political correctness (propaganda) while other countries struggle to form coalitions.  World War II stands in the minds of veterans as "the great war".  That is because that war required everything to win... airplanes, tanks, ground troops, ships on the sea..., a great sacrifice remembered by its surviving veterans.

Friends, here it is, a war destined to bring forth horrors our generation has not experience and to last many years!  World War III!  Are you awake?

Do you have a Story to tell?

1776 Battle of Moore's Creek  Bridge near Wilmington
A short while before the American Revolution, a vessel left Isle of Skye Scotland and dropped anchor outside of Wilmington, North Carolina.  It was loaded with the MacDonald Clan; and particularly Flora MacDonald, a supporter of Bonnie Prince Charles (Stuart pretender to the throne). They sent a message to the Governor of the State asking for acreage upon with to settle the clan and waited to be granted several thousand acres in Moore County.

At the beginning of the Revolutionary War, the Scots sided with Great Britain in the cause.  One morning, the young Hugh McDonald, aged 16 years, while working alongside his father in the family field, saw a company of American patriots approaching on horseback. Not wanting to join the cause, the father ran into the woods to hide and while he was gone the patriots persuaded young Hugh to join up as a drummer boy.  Shortly thereafter, the boy fought in the Battle of Moore's Creek Bridge, a minor but important victory for the patriots.  For the next several years Hugh fought in all of the skirmishes and battles of his regiment which eventually led to the surrender at Yorktown of Cornwallis.  In his pension, Hugh tells of a battle when he took a musket ball in the leg and fell to the ground.  A British soldier, standing over him, sword in hand, prepared to kill him when suddenly he changed his mind and ran into the woods.  That wounded leg would trouble Hugh all of his life.  After the war, the MacDonald clan, having chosen the wrong side of the conflict, was compelled to return to Scotland.  Meanwhile Hugh was entitled to a land grant for his service. The land was in Elbert County, and that is how the family set their roots in Georgia.

There are many such stories to be discovered in the records.  Just about everybody descends from a brave soldier of the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, or the American Civil War.  We read of the founders of this country and other heroes, yet we, too, have family members who risked everything to come to America, and take upon themselves the battle for freedom.  Yet, in this age, young people are rioting in the streets, demanding, demanding, demanding.  I wonder if they realize the sufferings of their own ancestors or have heard a story of their past?  If so, then I expect that, instead of destroying property, they would want to help America now in its troubling times.  For, it is during this era that we stand to lose our Constitutional freedoms and very life to domestic and foreign terrorists.  Hugh had the right to bear arms, to save himself from invading armies, and his children served in local militias carrying weapons to further protect the countryside. So that has been the way of it from America's earliest times.  One of of most precious freedoms, the right to keep and bear arms was described by Aristotle, Cicero, John Locke, Machiavelli, the English Whigs, and others.  This heritage is our right as are the freedoms for which Hugh McDonald fought so long ago.

Now, in the wake of terrorist attacks upon Paris, we are at a threshold of decision. Sit on our laurels and let Islam capture America, or fight.  Veterans speak of World War II  as "the big one".  However, larger, more terrifying battles knock at our doors, and promise many long years of struggle.   It is one which the spoiled children of the soldiers of the American Revolution and other wars do not understand.  For they have been safe all these years.  How can the mothers and fathers of these children change their hearts?  If they knew their background, who they really are , they would begin to understand and appreciate so strong a love for our America.  We can no longer depend upon the schools to teach a true history.  Instead, the schools trash Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, George Washington, and even Columbus (1492).  Toyko Rose of World War II is back, propagandizing, persuading the children to forget the founding fathers.  To help us discover our roots, many genealogical records are being published online.  It is joyful to piece together (from actual facts) the endearing stories of the past.  May I invite you to join these websites and make good use of the records? Georgia Pioneers, Kentucky Pioneers, North Carolina Pioneers, South Carolina Pioneers, Virginia Pioneers and Southeastern Genealogy.

The Wildebeest of Today

A herd of wilderbeests
Generally, the wildebeest is described as foraging animals who do not form permanent pairing bonds, rather the males try to attract females by grunts and distinctive behaviour. Notably, the herd is followed by vultures.  The modern definition of a Wilderbeest: "Someone who looks like they got stuck in the forest for a century and look nasty, stanky and grimey as hell."  A vulture does nothing himself, but takes from the hard work of others.
Owing to the number of weird leftish, liberal groups who gather in the streets to complain and demand privilege, financial restitution and welfare, it appears that this society is inundated with wildebeests.  They are the useless unwashed generation who throw their trash in the streets, sleep in parks, and steal from business.  The encampments deter customers to visiting small businesses and shops, and after weeks and months of bond fires, marches and chants, tax paying citizens pick up the tab for these lazy sorts.
As wildebeests roam the countryside, these miserably worthless groups maintain the "right" to roam around the country, destroying, killing (yes, killing cops), stealing and trashing businesses. Yet they claim the right to "protest".  So much for the right to protest...prehaps it is time for a more definitive definition of that right which excludes stamping on others and destruction of property. Actually, the "rights" which are demanded are already given.   United States citizens have the right to quit protesting and get themselves employed;  work hard for the "American Dream".  Demanding that others provide that dream for them is not a "right".  American Campuses are becoming the setting for freaks!  Plain and Simple.  These kids will never achieve anything.  The only way to achieve is to get busy at becoming someone!

Media Sits in Political Judgment

We are America!
During World War II, the radio blast of Tokyo Rose behind American lines was a well-known "brain-washing technique" designed to get soldiers to quit the fight.  However, American's were not fooled.  Hey!  We won the big one!   After the war, communists in this country were rooted out and thus the liberal derogative phrase was uttered "McCarthyism!"  We are all supposed to feel guilty that McCarthy did his job.  One cannot help but look at the Congress today and ask: "What are you guys doing?  Does no one stand up for principles."  We have had a stomach-full of political correctness, permissiveness, immorality, corrupt politicians, conniving with the enemy, trickery on the financial front (such as the stimulus which went to the stock market), enforced medical insurance, burdensome taxes, regulations and restrictions targeted at American enterprise, officials in high places who are not prosecuted for wrong-doing, the changed-definitions of words (such as "fair", any Bill headed "fair" is the opposite), the persecution of christians and illegal immigrants set loose on our streets to perform murder, rape, etc.  And especially terrorists who are allowed into our country!  Accountability?  There is none.

The two political parties in this country are a joke.  The democrats are socialists and communists who will sell their mother to get elected.  Republicans are cowards.  Just plain liars cowards who pretend to present the bills and laws that we insist upon.   In the end, they always buckle under.  I ask you, who wants a coward in their family?  Where are the Statesmen?

So what we have is a blunt Donald Trump puts the media in its well-deserved place and violates the "politically correct" dictionary.  All of the news media, including Fox News, has succumbed to political correctness.  You see, their game is to get ratings and publicity for their networks and gain personal popularity.  They jump on words like a snake in the bush and play the drum over and over and over again.  We are supposed to all get in line.  The fact that Donald Trump said that he would deport all illegals has thrown them into a tizzy.  Moan, groan, oh you cruel person, sending babies and children back to Mexico!   Meanwhile, shoot-outs, rape, and terrible things are happening amongst the illegals.  Too, the political leaders look the other way to crime, as well as to the fact that terrorists groups are encamped on our American soil and performing beheadings!

The media tends to make themselves "the judge" of political races, and, if you will observe, are united in a main-stream mindset.  The recent Republican Debate said it all. when the moderators set out to rid the stage of Donald Trump and not provide equal time to all of the candidates standing there.  It was said that Megyn Kelly spoke more than anyone else.  And they are proud of that?  Moderators and commentators are promoting their own political agenda.  If you do not believe me, simply watch the arrogant Bill O'Reilly express his views and slam out the guest.  He insists that he is correct.  The moderators and commentators certainly try to "influence" their audience.  Thus, not a single one is a "reporter".

From where I see it, our the brain-washing of our leaders, politicians and media are leading us down the path to a third World War which our country stands to lose.
